BENUE STATE (NIGERIA) FLOOD

The word SOTERIA can literally be defined as save, rescue, and deliver. Other concepts that are inherent in Soteria include restoration to a state of safety, soundness, health and well-being as well as preservation from danger of destruction.

The flooding in Benue State is a reality. It is causing unprecedented and catastrophic destruction along its path.

Recently, the Benue Government announced it is opening two camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the State.

Gov. Samuel Ortom made the announcement after inspecting flooded areas within Makurdi and its environs. Ortom said the empty International Market and the Presidential Building at Agan Toll Gate would become camps for IDPs, pending when water level would subside.

He further said, “We hope the Federal Government will come to our aid as soon as possible; the flood committee headed by my Deputy will ensure that victims have minimum comfort while in the camps”.

Once again the African adage “A person is a person because of other persons” calls on us all to help bring relief and support to the flood survivors.

We are in partnership with all help providers around the country and are putting together relief materials to bring the much needed SOTERIA.

Strategic partnership with all help providers around the country would certainly bring comfort.
